The round 1 results are below, with a total of 32 players competing, with a message from Steven:

Next week will be round 2, however with Easter the following week we will play a short time control event on the following week (6 April) to allow people who may be going away over Easter to not have to miss a round of the rated event.
This short time control event is 5 rounds played under a time control of 10 minutes + 10 secs per move (called an Allegro event). The club runs 3 of these per year, and traditionally has a specific opening theme for each one, meaning that all games are played starting from a position in the same opening. These themes are selected via vote.
Up until next week, players can submit opening themes you would like to play, and from next Tuesday we’ll conduct the vote via email. When submitting an opening, please include the starting moves that lead to the position games will be played from (i.e. If submitting the Advance French, the moves 1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 might be the position you’d like to submit as a theme.
Feel free to submit more than 1 opening you’d like to try, as there are 3 allegro evenings, players will be able tom vote for 3 of the theme’s that I’ll advise next week. These can be standard openings, however aggressive gambits have also been played as themes in previous years.
